There is a thread right now on who was more naturally talented, Floyd or James Toney. A lot of people saying Toney point out how effortlessly perfect he was with his skills and just seemed to be able to do things that other fighters have to drill for years without much work. I also know a lot of trainers and old timers seem to really love Toney. This got me thinking of another fighter who is really liked by old timers and often described as text book perfect Harold Johnson. so... who do you think would win if they fought. Both fighters fought middle to heavy (though Johnson career high was 181 I think vs like 250 for Toney) but lets say the fight is Light Heavy or Cruiser, who do you think wins or who do you think is more likely to win if you think its close?
Tough call ..Harold had the clasic style down near perfect while Toney did the same with an aggressive shoulder roll style. I prefer Toney but he would have to be in tip top condition to beat Harold.
Toney was somewhat similar to Archie Moore, the same guy who pretty much had Johnson’s number. Although Toney was nowhere near as powerful as Moore. I honestly think this could be a close, competitive fight with Johnson edging Toney due to his piston jab.
