This was supposedly proposed before Harold was defeated by Willie. If this did come to be how do you think it would go? - IYO how do you think Harold would try to fight Sonny? He’d need some plan.

It also almost happened in the 50s too back when Harold and Sonny were sparring mates - Liston really had some education sparring HJ and Ezzard.

They were actually signed to fight in March 1956 but Johnson hurt his shoulder shortly before the fight and Marty Marshall subbed for Johnson.

Harold would probably beat Liston in 1956 and lose in 1963. No great insight there, but I just got back from 3-1/2 weeks in Australia (from Seattle, USA) and thought I better check in!

I got to pick Liston. Too big and powerful with the pre requisite amount of skill

Harold Johnson and Sonny Liston sparred before in the 50s and according to Johnson he used to get the better of him. Johnson could outbox the greener Liston. Had they fought in 1963 I think Liston would have knocked out Johnson.

About the only two versions of Liston whom I’d favor Johnson to beat Is the 7 fight one who lost to Marty Marshall and the diminished rendition who was knocked out by Leotis Martin. Anything in between and Johnson is toast.
