The Associated Press scored the 23 year old philadelphian as the winner 5-3-2. Henry, who had been rated almost on par with Jersey Joe Walcott, the heavyweight champion, Challengers Rocky Marciano and Ezzard Charles, left himself wide open for telling right hand counterpunches. The Los Angeles Negro hurt Johnson early but failed to take advantage of his opening. Few of the 6,343 fans who paid $ 25,720 though Johnson had a chance before the fight. It was supposed to be a matter of whether johnson could stay the limit. Thats the way it looked in the opening round as Henry drew blood from Johnsons Nose and belted him freely with sharp left jabs and smashing right hands. In the 2nd round, Henry staggered Johnson with a fast left to the body and long right to the face, but johnson held on and from that point gained both energy and courage." - New York Times march 18 1952
It has to be noted that the small slick lightheavy/heayweights of that era (Charles, Moore Johnson) had a lot of sucess against the bigger skilled men who were pleantifull at the time. Sort of runs counter to the curent orthodoxy.
