I recall that Antuofermo-Aldana matchup I see on your page as being one of the biggest screwups in Top Rank Boxing history.

They spent the whole evening talking about Vito's "bone shaving" operation to prevent him from getting cuts before this tuneup fight. Nobody had ever heard of such a thing as bone shaving around a fighter's eyes. And the "easy" Aldana win was supposed to launch him to the Hagler rematch, which was already signed.

And he bled all night and got knocked around. And then they went ahead with the Hagler fight anyway.

 

As I remember it, Henry Cooper had “bone shaving operations” way before that time. It did not work for him either.
