What a damned idiot, that fight was not ever close, Quintana was knocked Williams' head round like a bag! Commentators were biased also, but not like Lederman!
All of the above to your thread title. I think most of us who have seen HBO's boxing broadcasts for awhile, know all to well of their shameless bias!:-(
I am glad you said that. It appears the commentators try to make the fans believe their favorite fighter is winning the fight, as usual. They do fool some fans, but certainly not all of them. During the live broadcast I put the mute button on most of the time, did not like what they were saying, can see the fight myself and do not need them to tell me who is winning, later I watched the fight again on DVR w/ sound.
Lederman was clearly wrong in his scoring of the fight but as to whether that is because of bias is unclear. I would like to think bias and/or favoring the house fighter has nothing to do with it, because Lederman is a well respected judge. At least the right man won.
Yes, I am so glad for the right man winning that fight, it was good for boxing. Watch Vladimir Klitschko Vs. Monty Barrett and you will Lederman's biased to the extreme!
Yeah the whole lot except kellerman must be on truth syrum or something lately. Its all about keeping a franchise appear unblemished:twisted::fire
You know he gets a hard on for any Ghetto warrior, the slicker the skills and the more **** they talk the better. He must wank to old RJJ videos.
I don't get you guys who actually put the TV on mute when watching a fight. I mean, is the commentary really that intolerable? I can enjoy a fight just fine, even if I don't agree with what the HBO or Showtime crew is saying. It doesn't really bother me, and it doesn't influence my scorecard either. I mean, come on. We all know that Harold Lederman's scorecard is almost never going to be close. The only problem I have is when someone is just absolutely incompetent and/or ill suited for the job, like Fran Charles, and Lennox Lewis initially. Then it feels like it physically hurts my ears to listen to them.
It's a good job Harold isn't a real fight judge - otherwise no non-American would ever win on US soil! I don't know where he got those scores from!
So you havent noticed his almost Homoerotic statements about certain types of Boxers. Not heard the subtle undertones of carnal desire when watching certain fighters, and his repulsion at others. Even Lampley has brought him up on it on TV.
