I saw him at the Howie Albert funeral in January. In fact we walked in together. He fought some of the best of his era, including giving the 1st to defeat Vito Antuofermo, beating Rocky Mattioli & Andy Price, boxing draws against Hedgemon Lewis, Saoul Mamby & Wilfred Benitez. His only loses by KO, came against Pipino Cuevas, due to a broken jaw and Tommy Hearns, when Weston suffered a detached retina and the fight was stopped between the 6th and 7th rounds. Weston never fought again. 58-56 58-56 58-56 As evidenced by the closeness of the scorecards, Weston gave Hearns alot of trouble. He was an elusive target that was hard for Hearns to hit. He wasn't a great puncher but he could take a very good shot. He was rated in the top 10 in the Welterweight division from December 1975 to October 1980, for a total of 45 months. His highest rating was #3.
