They can consider themselves Martian, but it doesn't change the fact that geographically they are from Western Asia

Technically that's true, but you never hear Iranians called Asians the way Chinese, Koreans, Indians etc are called in UK, USA, France etc...theres a reason for that

Yes, I think what the OP is describing as Asians are Indians or from the Indian Subcontinent.

Its Western Asia....you are getting continents and regions mixed up. Its like saying that someone in the Balkans isn't European

You can look at the map all you want and say who is Asian and who is not but when you get out of your little bedroom and away from your computer screen maybe travel the world a bit then you will realize the gulf in difference between say Indians,Chinese,Japanese,Thai etc etc to the people of say Iran,Iraq,Afghanistan they are a completely different breed of people and that's why they are called Middle Eastern.

It's not Geography it's just the way of the world, don't be so narrow minded.

Depends how old the maps is. According to maps drawn up by Brits in the last 100 years you are correct, try a Napoleon map and you may see it listed as Persia. Look at an Iranian map and you wouldn't even be able to understand it. What you meant is by current western values and how we're currently deciding the label things he is geographically from Western Asia.

Don't forget all the lines on a map were just drawn on by men. They are just as much Persian as they are Asian, if you look on maps from 200 years ago Persia was still listed on a map. Just because someone somewhere along the line decided to arse about and change a few names in the English language doesn't mean an entire country should change how they perceive themselves.
