It's a reoccuring problem with many of the purely Khan fans on here like Lexar,Rainman etc in that they have a lack of understanding of the sport and they judge a fighter based on one single fight.

So to them, Haroon is now the best GB boxer at that weight because he beat Selby.. the worst part is that they are not actually interested in learning about the sport beyond total fanantical bias and so will just continue. It's pretty tiring

Haroon's statement that beating a Brit is more important than medalling is a pretty damning indictment on the Commonwealths though. It's not a great competition in boxing. India and Mauritius and ****...they can't fight for ****.

Supposedly India has the top ranked Middleweight. I might be misremembering though.

One thing I do want to ask is, can anyone tell me about Haroons style, and anything he does particularly well?

Because the footage I saw of him was not very good. Sloppy, over-reaching, not particularly fast, what is it he does well? Because he seems to be getting through on spirit alone as far as I can see.

He's over-achieved this far it seems, fair play to him. But I'll judge his worth as a fighter when he sheds the head guard and turns pro. He's certainly intrigued me already, I wish him luck, by the looks of things he's gonna need it.

No he's not particularly good from any footage I've seen. He's medalled in a crappy tournament here and the Khan fanboys are going mental over it. Kenny Anderson won this thing. There are likely far more flops that medal here than successes.

If you had to pick 4 of the best teams in the premier league to enter the champions league to try ensure an English team won.. would you pick West Brom over Manchester United just because one saturday they happened to beat them?

It's about recent form. Irrelevant of whether he beat Selby, the fact is he wasn't performing well enough to be picked

Yes. You notice quite a few average pro's who have won gold and silver at the commenwealth. It's kind of like the golden gloves in America. Pretty much every boxer in the USA has won the golden gloves at some point.

What a twat. He can **** off and fight somewhere else if he's going to be anti-British and a petulant little **** about it all.

Don't forget Jamie Cox or how about Pakistani Gold Medalist Haiser Ali (I think that's the name) FW signed him up after the games and he went 5-3 before retiring

Its very difficult for Lexar the "race card" merchant to get his head around. It was a one off and scored 3-3 he only won on countback, there is every chance he could lose the next time the pair meet.

That's because the TV announcers say 'Golden Glives' winner to hype up a fighter but really it's just the regionals. I think the full win is still quite prestigous, although with the current Amateur game no indication of possible pro success as it used to be.

The only fighters who impress me in the amateurs are those with a 'pro' style, like Lomachenko (spelling?) who won featherweight gild at the last Olympics (think he won a Gold, got the Barker Trophy anyway) who I can't wait to turn pro, think he's waiting til after 2012 though. Shame.
