That is comfortably the most abusive post I have ever written on here. Bunce has irritated me for years. Even on Setanta his over the top arse kissing was irritating. As well as his lack of perspective The reason this post irritated me was it gives the impression he is incredibly moralistic where others arent. He wouldnt do that to a struggling boxer etc. However as others have pointed out he has managed to ignore loads of boxers havent been paid and various other issues due to who his paymasters are. I understand he has a job he wants to hold onto. But dont act sanctimoniously and a moral up standing citizen when he turns a blind eye to other things.
Very sad news. I didnt expect Harrison to ever get anywhere near world level again but i hoped he could get in the gym and off the booze. Maybe pick up a few wins and get a cash out fight with a decent payday at british title level in order to give him a bit of a cushion financially. I wouldn't imagine he's got much money left after all his legal problems. If it was someone else you'd put it down as a bit of pissed up hi-jinks but given his track record it looks like he's on a very slippery slope.
Really gutted about this, hoped that two years off the drink could enable him to escape it. In retrospect the pressures of the comeback and the return to his old hunting grounds was a huge mistake. Too many temptations and reminders of his past, would have been better off trying to start a completely new life elsewhere. Easier said than done.
Those "two years off the drink" where in a Spanish prison though. It's one thing staying sober when you've got little other options and distractions. It's a totally different battle with the booze when you're back home, have to deal with every day life and making up for lost time with family, and there's always someone that wants to buy you a drink.
Yes totally agree, that was the point I was trying to make but you worded it better. Returning to the environment and situation he associates with drinking after that period out was always going to be dangerous. As the old AA saying goes, Alcohol is patient it will wait a lifetime for you to return to it.
I remember hearing only a couple of years ago from a friend of his family that Harrison got out on leave from the spanish jail for a weekend, ended up hitting a pub and basically had to be carried back to the prison as he was out his face. He obviously has a very extreme case of alcoholism. I hope he can find himself a half decent job and doesn't slip into extreme poverty, it would be such a tragedy to see another scottish hero go the same way as Benny Lynch. So sad to think that a lad who came from such humble beginnings and rose to the height of the sport has to end like this.
Still calling bull****? Id heard this a couple of weeks ago, when I posted it. No one was hoping more than I that it wasnt true, as Scott had told me himself training was going great, but someone in the know told me that was nonsense, and he was in full swing with the same old faces he shouldve dropped years ago. I see no way back now, as he needs 2, even 3 sessions a day, even at his best to get to the weight where he's an animal. At LWW he wouldnt carry the same strength. Sad news.
