The British Board Of Boxing Control are meeting right now to discuss whether Harrison should get paid for the Haye fight but personally I think that have no right to withhold that purse plus anyway they're barking up the wrong tree. Look, Harrison took the fight. We all knew he was a timid guy and every one who knows boxing knows the fight was a joke which is why I didn't pay one single penny to see that ****. The only people who were duped into beliving the fight was a genuinely tough fight were the illiterate school dropout beer swelling 40 a day smoking chavs and inner London gang bangers who believed every lie Haye told the media. Harrison cannot be blamed because he is mentally deluded. He genuinely believed he could win; genuinely. Haye took this fight knowing it was an easy payday - heck he even told his friends what round he was going to win in!!! David Haye built and promoted this fight to the UK public and he knew exactly how it was going to go down. Bottom line is Harrison did his best the only problem is his best is terrible and he doesn't mentally grasp that concept while Haye has his marbles and orchestrated the whole deal. Blame Haye and take his purse not Harrison; we'd all take that chance given it.
I don't know why on Earth anybody thought for one second that anything other than what happened was going to happen in that fight. If you'd seen either fighter before, you knew what was coming. Audley has gone in the ring, froze and gone into his shell against 5'10 Ameribums. How people thought he could go in and box one of the hardest hitters around (and a guy who has apparently put a beating or two on him in sparring) is beyond me
I agree. The thought of punishing Harrison for being in a fight he could never win in a million years, is way too harsh. Yes, he was being overly cautious throughout, but can you blame him? He knew the moment he would try to do anything, Haye would pounce on him with a fight-ending counter. He knew his only chance was to drag it out and take it to the later rounds, where through divine intervention, Haye could possibly tire and not be as explosive. He was in way over his head, and could only muster what his limited ability allowed him to.
He threw one punch in three rounds. It was a half-assed performance, even by A-Force's low standards. He doesn't deserve the full purse for that.
The fight was a joke. Worst HW championship fight I have ever seen... I wouldn't mind if Harrison took some punishment. But he just fell over like a *****...
If Harrison got knocked out by the 1st punch, should his purse still be witheld? Bottom line is that Harrison did a great job of promoting the fight, he sold himself really well, he helped generate PPV revenue and gate revenue so why shouldn't he get paid? If you're going to withhold his purse, give people half their money back. Fair is fair. I'm not defending Harriosn's performance but the man showed up on the night and helped sell the fight. HALF the reason why people paid to watch is because of Harrison's pitch selling the fight. It would be a despicable act and very unfair to withhold even a penny from him.
because in a sport where fighters, federations and promoters constantly discredit boxing in the name of personal gain there has to be a point where it stops. this isn't wrestling...a fighter promoting a fight well, smack talking and then doing **** all in the ring makes a mockery of the sport. if you're a fighter - fight! it's bad enough that some fighters don't fight others just because 'they don't feel like it', isn't it? go watch danny green v. paul briggs - it's a mirror image of audley v. haye....a down and out fighter facing a guy who talks a lot of **** but never fights the best. and the result was the same - both 'winners' trying to credit their opponent after the fight in a shameless attempt to salvage some credibility for their 'win'. anyone who thinks boxing is going to compete with MMA while all this bull**** happens is dreaming.
Yeah coz that sums up everyone in England who was interested in the fight doesnt it...u ignorant snobby *****
I agree, it was mirror image. i just finished to watch it again. And I have to say, it is really funny!!! Both are well within the guard of each others and don't even try to land a punch for 2 rounds lol. You don't stand inside the guard when you don't want to punch, just for this, it was an horrible acting... I give a D- for the acting No boxers in that ring deserved a pay and they should give money pack for the fan who pay for that, in my opinion. Lol at the ref, he looked so sad!!
