If he loses his next three fights by stoppage then by all means revoke his licence due to diminished skills.

I'd say drink driving is a more serious offence than assault, not that it really matters.

Assuming he can pass a medical he should be allowed to fight.

Tyson got a licence to fight here, and I'm sure many fighters that are imported bodies have speeding tickets or have robbed a sweet shop during their time

 

Frankie W has already done this twice in the 80s, once as way to get the BBB of C to recognize the WBA, and then later the IBF.

It seems the board can be swayed by 'certain' things - I wonder if Harrison went on a amazing run abroad, and ricky burns kept winning and a super scottish fight could be made, with big sanctioning fees, would the board suddenly realise the error of their ways?


Smiths comments on the IBO go to the heart of this - the British board loves to portray themselves as the best of the best etc, and wont sanction any WBU fights (unless 20,000 people are paying to watch in the MEN) but will sanction IBO because, eh, "we have a good relationship with them..."

Robs points a very good one ,about he used his skills to a bad effect outsied .i would relicense him again ,but with stringent testing .that would be the opnly way i would do it ,if he was clean and wanted to fight he would abide but.

Of course there is. This isn't a sport which teaches you how to drive drunk. It's a sport which teaches you how to hurt someone.

 

its also a sport that teaches you to defend yourself, not everyone who learns boxing does so to kick the **** out of someone.

drunk driving you are more than likely to kill someone through sheer stupidity. Any drunk driver should be banged up with immediate effect, no exceptions and unless you have lost someone through a drunk driver then you have no idea where I'm coming from.

Harrison's biggest problem was being a pro boxer who couldn't control his drinking and got himself involved in fights he's paid his dues just like Tyson has.

and i dont think there should be a differentiation in what crime he's already served his time for, drink driving is more serious imo, but thats besides the point, harrison has cleared his debt to society and should be allowed to make a living, we've allowed previous criminals to continue, think of cox, chisora, brook. (in fact didnt brook avoid even suspension?)
