Joe Elfidh is the man who steps in tonight to face Scott Harrison, I know some of you were wondering who so just thought I would post it up. 7-1 (0) was stopped by Kieran Farrell earlier this year.
I went to that Keiran Farrell fight was sat ringside. Harrison will beat him but he will come and fight better than that Hungarian did in Harrison's last fight. Harrison seems to attack the body alot in his last fight and Elfidh got stopped from a body shot and didnt seem to like taking them at all
Thats me heard 3 different opponents in a week, Tony Owens, Miguel Aguilar and now Joe Elfidh. Why all the changes?
Well tonight didn't overly impress me although i'm a little confused on how to read into this. How much does it affect a fighter in having 3-4 different opponents announced in a month, having the amount of rounds go from 10 to 8 down to 6, and fighting an opponent at what i believe was actually lightwelter (can anyone confirm what happened with the weights?). Should the fact that an opponent took the fight at 12 hours notice and the fight distance nearly halved mean that Harrison should have had the opponent out of their by KO? I'm not sure whats going on, i just hope it wasn't down to not training properly and being on the bevvy. Please discuss...
I thought Scotty did OK against a big awkward guy who was on the back foot all night throwing wild swinging shots when scotty got close before getting on his bike again, harrison had no time to study his opponent beforehand so was going in there 'cold' 6 rounds under his belt is no bad thing, I was happier that happened instead of a 1st round stoppage, as looked inevitable at the start! Got some good bodyshots in too, & seemed to be just getting warmed up as the fight ended. I just hope hes kept busy, cos its obvious he still has a bit of rust to shake off.
thought he looked poor tonioght. any boxer who boxes and moves off the back foot will have him struggling. gets beaten once he steps up imo
I can see what you mean, bt if the guy comes in at 12 hours notice, surely he's not as fit and ready as he should be? Should Scott not have banged him out? Also, was this fight at light welter? I heard the commentators say something about the weight but couldn't hear it properly. Did you catch it? Unfortunatly i agree, he needs a step up in opponent again, this opponent was, but i expected more if i'm being honest. He didn't seem to throw much but bossed the ring. A strange fight that i suppose i didn't expect to happen the way it did.
Like yourself Scotch, I didnt catch it either as I was watching a choppy feed, & had a few problems with it freezing on & off. Aye it wasnt the best Harrison I have ever saw, but I did think he was warming into the fight when it finished & landing some telling hooks to the body but its another W, & another step in the right direction:good
The fight was at Light Welterweight but he did not look much bigger than Harrison and he was given a tough test for a 12 hour notice fighter. He should be doing much better than that. Harrison does not need Burns he needs to look into 2 or 3 more fights with 8 rounder and a 10 rounder before that is even considered
I agree with you after tonights performances from Burns & Harrison, but trouble with Harrison is that he needs the money, so wether hes ready or not hes pushing to jump straight in with Burns... & it could make both fighters a shitload of cash by scottish fighters standards.
I agree and unfortuately the money is the issue isn't it. I think if he gets in the ring with Burns in December his career would be over as he would lose as he still is rusty and not the fighter he once was. But if he has 3 fights he would build up his money and then could stand a chance maybe in march-may time and if he wins he can dictate the money.
