How do you guys rate him, and how do you think he would fare vs the lightweights of today?

I liked Arroyo at one time i thought he reminded me of a poor mans Arguello. When he lost to Pazienza,Fuentes he was already shot. He was a good fighter in his prime i remember him coming from behind to ko Terrance Ali and his brutal ko over Charlie"White Lightning" Brown.
Today i might pick him over Soto im not sure if Soto is as good at lw as he was at Fw and JL. Arroyo had a good punch and i think hed ko someone like Katsidis who comes right at you. He might have trouble with a speedster like Guzman. Id pick him to stop Funeka,Arroyo was very tall too for a LW at 5-11. When he lost to Paul he just lost to the better fighter, Paul was very good when he won the title and seemed to lose a step by the end of his reign. Id pick Marquez to beat Arroyo late stoppage or decision.

The thing that would've helped his career was a Mancini fight. He just could not get it. Then again, lots of guys wanted Mancini in there. But an Arroyo match would've sold big in Ohio & I think Arroyo's defense and mobility was good enough to avoid Mancini's hooks.

I remember my dad mentioning that matchup and he thought Arroyo would take him. Looking back maybe Arroyo wins but Mancini was already losing a step when Arroyo was champ. A prime Mancini that fought Arguello tough would beat Arroyo.
