Most ringside reports scored their 2nd fight to Greb. Newspapers were split for their 4th contest, though more scored it for Greb.

Tunney was a brilliant ATG himself and naturally bigger than Greb. He had 9lbs in Greb for their 4th fight & 12.5lbs in their final contest.

Greb was past prime & mostly blind in 1 eye by the end of their series.

The Tunney series are a good testament to Greb's likely brilliance. When you look at what Greb did outside of the Tunney fights, they're a pretty decent indicator of how great Tunney was, too.

Cool, isn't it? I love the way Tunney's manner conveyed the brutality and traumatic memories of the fight - his candor really struck me. Took a while to re-discover the clip, I forgot about there being some excellent vids held by Getty that aren't necessarily available on YouTube.

I didn't know Getty had that but now I'm all over it ... many thanks for a terrific post.
