I agree. Maybe the solution is a combo of both: not responding to their offensive posts but reporting them to the moderators.

 

Then again it seems to me that posters have been ignoring the imbeciles for a long time now (the counter-attacks on quarry et al. is pretty new) and the result has been predictable --they're gettin' woise.

 

I don't know what kind of authority the mods have here, but I mod the history section at bscene and we have no power but to edit and delete posts. I got the admins to lock one troll out of the section (he posts here now but seems to be on good behavior so far) and have had several racist posters banned, only to come back as an alt and get banned again. Other than that I will take the time to delete every post a repeated troll puts up until he gets the message and just leaves. This is what I did with the poster quarry and a few others on there.
