Harry Greb is just an old glorified version of Joe Calzaghe.

I'm not even trolling all I'm saying is Greb is massively overated, especially for someone who hits like Paulie Malignaggi

Funny how you all say troll when none of you can give reasons why you think I'm wrong.

Good comparison but he also had more balls in picking his opponents and fighting them numerous times . He lacked d lossophobia .
Unlike Calzaghe he was stopped twice , at least 1 of them was 2 a bigger man .
Greb was also shorter than Calzaghe and considerably lighter , he made 160 lbs in days when cutting weight was a less developed practice .
Calzaghe never fought in any division under 168 as a pro and cut more weight in order 2 make it .
But Greb really was d Joe Calzaghe with eggs of his own era .

Do you agree that someone with the punching power of Paulie Malignaggi could never beat the truly great elite fighters of all time?

edit : I agree , almost completely , it is quite impossible 4 me 2 imagine Greb beating Monzon , McCallum , Ihetu , Langford , Toney , Hagler , Rubin Carter , Gerlad McClellan or "even" Steve Collins , Jorge Castro , Tony Thornton , Julian Jackson or Sanderline Williams . He only might have gotten d nod over them (Collins , Thornton ,Castro & Jackson) in something that just wouldn't have seem anything like a "beating" .

All my reservations which may b exaggerated r below :
that was my original reply which was quite unfair :

Has calzaghe ever beaten guys as good as tunney, walker, flowers and gibbons?

    It's a ridiculous comparison.

The most obvious comparison to joe would probably be rosenbloom imo.

For starters, as Greb came first, would not Calzaghe actually be the glorified version of Greb?

Boxing in 1920's and the early twenty first century are two different animals. It is very hard to compare them, not least because there is no publicly available footage of Greb.

Calzaghe beats Darcy by scores of 120-108, 120-108, 120-108

OP was trying to compare styles without really seeing Greb I think, but in answer to the Q, I'd argue Hopkins and Eubank are up there with those men

I have a feeling Greb was likely illusive, a good punch picker, a good judge of distance, could throw effectively at all ranges (not many can), a high workrate, quick and immense stamina. Effectively his skill level is likely to be pretty high

YOu start with a kind of reasonable question and then destroy it completely with terrible rebuttals ...

I have compared Greb to being a better Calzaghe style wise ... tons of fast punches from all angles, hard to hit, exceptional stamina, ect ... the huge difference being number of fights, level of opposition and chin. However to respond to the over the top criticism you have received from this sort of audience (what else would you expect but insults) with silly responses crushes whatever shot you had at serious debate.
