Geese I think Harry would totally confuse ol' Jim. I can't see the size being a great issue and Greb knew how to fight jabbers such as Loughran and Tunney both of whom said the way to beat Harry was to keep going to his body, something I can't see Corbett sustaining. Over 15 I think Harry would at least fare a draw here.

I've always felt that Greb would annihilate Corbett. Jim was a great fighter, but he couldn't locate Greb. Harry would completely befuddle him and destroy his orthodox rhythm and style with his own violent, staccato bursts of gloves and constant bounding in and out.

Greb UD. 11 rounds to 4.

    Greb wins, probably.

Greb's victory over Tunney and the technical developments of the 1920s make me favor him. His style is built to win point victories under gradually modernizing rules; Corbett's uses comparatively higher-commitment attacks that still don't carry much power because Corbett didn't have any. Corbett's experience with the dirtier inside fighting of the late 19th century is also not terribly relevant here. Against a mobile, elusive, crouching fighter like Greb -- and in a modernish boxing scoring setup -- the old LPR style is not a great match.

Even Corbett's speed becomes less of a factor because of the higher commitment that many of his lunges required. Those would be fine against somebody like Johnson because late 19th century boxing was an ultra-specialized range game with lots of feints. It just slows him down in a 20's bout against Greb.
