Greb, he could do everything LaMotta could but better. LaMottas three greatest assets: durability, bodypunching, and strength wouldnt have made a difference: Greb wouldnt go for the KO, he faced bodypunchers on par with LaMotta (although I consider LaMotta one of the best bodypunchers EVER, and Greb was easily as strong or stronger than LaMotta. Greb by points. More active, and faster.
Dunno about Greb being stronger than LaMotta... LaMotta would give any middleweight a hard fight...and is very underrated for his abilities (bobbing weaving, hand speed, good left jab, and rolling with punches) Jake had solid skills, fought excellent comp in a brutal era...Just because Martin Scorcese thinks Jake is only a face first slugger, doesn't mean it is true....Watch the films. A fight with Greb would be a great one, and it would be very close (IMO) With that being said, I'd take Greb by close decision...Based on his outstanding resume. Greb is a top three P4P in the history of the sport.
GREB wins!!! Greb beat Tunney and gave Jack Dempsey a rough time in sparring. Greb also beat alot of other great fighters. Lamotta was tough but inconsistent. Look at his ring record. Also, Greb beat alot of lightheavyweights and Heavyweights, whereas Lamotta had much less luck against the big guys. Grebfan9 www.firstroundboxing.com
