Harry Greb vs Archie Moore

Scoring could depend on if you go for the fighter who landed more, or the fighter who landed harder.

I think Greb's speed and defense earns him a tough UD.

 

tough pick for me because based on what I have read about Greb he was one of the busiest guys in the ring Human windmill and Moore had the power,savvy and skill. Both men were proven tough at 175 ish and this could be the kind of series that they split a dozen fights. Archie one of the best between 175lbs and heavyweight and Langford is also in that group while Greb is one of the best between 160-175lbs so south of 175 Harry may have a good chance to equal Archie or better

 

Yes I was abit taken back by this one also Burt. I think some don't grip the firepower Jack had at his best in the early '20's.

 

I can't pick a winner in this great matchup but I do like Archie's short right hand to land enough to give him the edge with the power he had behind it.

 

Tough to say...I agree that Greb's noted style and movement would trouble Moore. Archie is the fighter that carries the fight changing power in this one though...Moore was a mechanic, and one of the smartest, most cunning fighters in history. Could he figure out, and start landing on Greb?...At middleweight, I'd say Greb's speed and physicality confound Moore...at light heavyweight, a prime Moore would time and find Greb eventually...both are difficult fights. At light heavyweight, IMO a prime Moore beats any middleweight.

 

After thinking it over, I will shade towards Greb. Archie liked to get set to unload his attacks. Prime Greb would probably keep him too busy to really get going. And Greb had a major set of whiskers should the rare power punch arrive. We may not have footage of Greb but he has such a lengthy and successful track record against almost every type of opponent imaginable, we can decipher his adaptability and effectiveness here.

That said, I wouldn't bet much on this fight!

 

Moore would win this one over Greb by decision.Probably takes 10, or 11 rounds, he's a notch above.l
