Not to mention Haye takes 1 punch to KO his opponents and often needs no accumulation.

Ranked Gurov and Momeck both got taken out by 1 shot as did HW Bonin (I think from memory)

Bonin was three knockdowns or so,but nontheless he stopped him in the first, and every time haye landed with a single hard shot bonin went down.

That was it.....Not saying that much, but Audley couldnt KO Bonin in 9 rounds, it was only stopped because Bonin turned his back, Bonin was never hurt by Aud and won half the rounds from my recollection

Bottom line is that haye seems a tremendous puncher at 200 pounds,if greb can take them, then he should be brought up much more in greatest chin threads...

I think he could perhaps slip, parry them and if he gets out of the first 3-5rounds may take over. He may also give Haye problems on the inside

Possibly, power puncher. I think i will reiterate that we will have to see how haye proceeds from now on.
Bear in mind that if haye gets bombed out by klitschsko that this has no bearing on a greb fight,as greb is not considered a puncher, especially not at cruiser and above.
ps; who knows if haye will solve his stamina problems (as benn did.) whether the added weight will improve his punch resistance (eg coto.) ,if the knockdowns hes had are balance issues (eg trinidad/whitaker.) or if he will be like hearns/benn and vulnerable but savage in counter attack.......Or,he could be the new herbie hide?

Brennan at his best was an exceptional heavyweight. One of the best contenders of the era, with wins over several other good contenders as well as Battling Levinsky and a draw against the great Billy Miske. Not on the leval of Fulton or Miske or the like, but a very good fighter. He gave Jack Dempsey one of his toughest fights (In one of Dempsey's worst prime performances and Brennans best). I know that might not mean that much to some, though. He was a very durable fighter with a good punch and skill. Greb consistently bested him.

Frankly, I find this a bit obscene. Greb is a lock for P4P top 3. No. 1 middleweight, top 10 Light heavyweight and one of the best heavyweights of the era, despite rarely fighting over 168 pounds or so. Haye's name shouldn't even appear in the same sentence as Grebs. Sure, he's a great athalete, a swift and powerful puncher, and the best cruserweight for a while, but Greb was god-like in the ring (or as close as any fighter can come to it.) He had more than enough assets and skill and overcome the size difference. Greb takes a UD. Hell, I'd even give Greb even money against Dempsey and several other ATG heavyweights.

Dont get us wrong maxmomer,i dont think anyone is comparing haye with greb resume wise or p4p. Greb has a case for no1 p4p of all time, and has probably the best resume of them all. (only lack of film makes it somewhat ambigous.) Haye patently has no such claim.
What folks are saying is that haye is a thunderous puncher, very fast and a big tall lean 200 pounder.,were not talking kelly pavlik here..
Its like saying nigel benn has a punchers chance of beating robinson at 160,while it may sound disrespectful, its true....
So,no the premise is not obscene at all...
Remember greb is a 160 er not known for his punch...
ps; if you truely feel greb can be even money with dempsey and several other atgs at HEAVY then i think he must be ranked no1 p4p,no other middle can seriously be considered to beat several atgs at heavy,no?

I think this about how much people rate david haye if he does do what he says he will and clean up the heavyweight division, he could certainly make the greb fight interesting. At this moment in time i agree with you that you cant just pick a guy like greb to lose to an unproven fighter. I also think no matter what haye goes on to achieve greb takes this one by decision

I will also add that it doesnt even need haye to become the top heavy out there, its enough to see that haye is a great puncher already at 200 to see he has a chance....
People need to distinguish a fighters overall ranking and his effectiveness at producing a knockout, especially over a much smaller, non punching opponent....

The person that mentioned Herbie Hide ignores the fact that Hide never beat anyone and didnt fight or prove his chin at Cruserweight.

Haye has already achieved far more than Hide did and as a young Brit kid I was gutted when Bowe beat the stuffing out of Hide

Unproven fighters dont beat the Linear no1 man in their division, blow out top young prospects and ranked opponents alike

Haye is already beyond Greb because of the size factor for my money

I have Greb at No. 2 P4P. Langford at No. 1. Though it's very close, Langford edges Greb because he has outstanding wins over several all time greats from Lightweight all the way up to heavyweight, his heavyweight wins are especially impressive because I think he was more of a natural light-heavy, and in many of his best wins against heavy's he was past his best. I would give Dempsey (and the other heavy's I think Greb could beat; Corbett, Schmeling, Baer and a few others) the benefit of the doubt just because, while Greb's record against heavyweights is good, he's still a bit unproven at that weight. What I do believe is that Greb would give hell to almost any fighter of all time at any weight. I'd give greb a very good chance against several heavy's far more dangerous than Haye. While I can respect the position that Haye's size and excellent punching effeciency could possibly win him the fight, I must respectfully disagree with it.

The argument posted by enquirer, i.e. Greb cant punch so he cant beat a bigger harder hitting guy, is the same argument he consistently faced throughout his career and indeed its how Dempsey was able to avoid him. Greb consistently proved this argument wrong because he wasnt an idiot. He didnt stand there and trade like a neanderthal. He was smart. He used his speed and defense to avoid getting hit clean consecutively. He was as durable as they come anyway, and he was freakishly strong, being able to push and tug men 25-30 pounds heavier without tiring. Greb wasnt dumb enough to go and try to end it quick. He would have gotten Hayes respect early by proving he can hit hard enough to get his attention and then he would have settled down and gone to work while Haye was looking for the KO. Greb would have taken him deep like nobody else and drown him. Period.

I don't feel Greb has the punch to beat Haye. For Greb to outwork Haye for 12 or 15 rounds is a tall ask especially when you look at Haye's power I don't think Greb ever came up against a guy with that kind of power. I think Haye will end it Greb would put up a brave performance but for some reason I see this looking like Foster vs Tiger.
