Hello AbdullahI want to pose a question to you...If fighter A has 200 fights and whips almost all opponents his weight...Only once he ventures out of his weight class, against a LIGHT punching opponent ,who is not the best of hisweight class, and is not successful, and is stopped...Fighter A ,NEVER AGAIN,challenges the best,in the heavier class, wisely avoiding the best of the bigger boys,again...Knows his limitation.....Fighter B,has 300 bouts whipping all opponents almost WEEKLY....Fighter B tackles,HEAVY hall of of FAMERS ,15 t0 50 pounds heavier,TIME AND TIME AGAIN.many of them multiple times, and NEVER EVER AVOIDING anyone regardless of weight class or stature....Oh. one more point of information...Fighter B fought last half of fabulous career, with an added burden...FIGHTER B,was BLIND in ONE EYE...Who had a greater career?Of course fighter B, by all LOGIC...And we know who fighter B is....

Hi Burt. It's nice to hear back from you. I tried to send you a private message today, but I don't think it went through. Now, of course, fighter A is Sugar Ray Robinson. Fighter B is Harry Greb. As you know, I rank Robinson # 1, pound for pound. But, I hear you Burt. Loud and clear and I have no logical response. If someone rates Greb #1, they'll get no argument from me. I still stick with Sugar Ray. I would love to see Greb's fights, obviously it would be easier to judge then.

Burt, you may want to check out the thread I started about Greb, head-to-head vs. the great middleweights. I would love to hear what you have to say on the subject. And the private message I tried to send you basically said that I saw your post about meeting Jack Johnson, who is another one of my favorites. You should consider yourself fortunate to have been able to see such greats like Robinson in action and Johnson in person. If you keep telling your stories Burt, you may very well become the celebrity of East Side Boxing.

I once read a boxing magazine and Greb was on the cover...It said Harry Greb and his 298 Enemies...and they meant the Referees...Well all fighter knew the tricks back then and you were fighting once a week. I think Kid Norfork was one that pluck at Harrys eye with his thumb and Harry went right back at him. Harry had balls and and he fought an eye for an eye but his talent and greatness was his superior skills, speed and grit....

Burt, just from speaking to you, I would have never guessed your age. Besides, age is only a number. Just keep your hands held high and protect yourself at all times.:thumbsup

Nope. Duran was a dirty fighter, Ali was known for his tactics too, Tyson slipped in elbows in his prime, Foreman hit people while they were down, etc. They're considered ATG's not because of 'dirty tactics' but because they beat the best of their generation, even if that meant by any means necessary.
