great fighter. We will never know how great because he was robbed of his chance for stardom.

Post your positive thoughts on Wills career

He had one heck of a resume

I see Wills as a fighter who was almost whitewashed out of history.

While he was active he was a huge figure, and a mere decade or so later he was largely forgotten.

You can say with some justification that Wills was the wrong guy[colour,] in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
You could equally say that he was in the right place at the right time .That he benefited from the trio of great black fighters Langford,McVey,Jeannette, being past their sell by date when he reached maturity as a fighter.
Had they all been prime when he was in his, would he have been viewed as such a big deal?
Johnson employed him as a sparring partner when Harry was still very green, he let him go because he couldn't give him a satisfactory work out. Had they been contemporaries who would have prevailed?

Not exactly an appreciation post. In the Dempsey appreciation thread you were ballwashing Dempsey. Here you can’t find a nice thing to say about a hall of fame top 20 ATG who was ducked by your favorite fighter and defeated better opponents than he did?

Dempsey fans just can’t get the nerve to give wills his due justice. The mere mention of the name wills rattled them
