Kinda reminds me of Dempsey practicing holding and hitting, low blows, rabbit punches, and his favorite hovering over a fallen opponent to hit them the instant a knee was raised.

Gotta love that lilly white Dempsey.

Ok. So that's why Dempsey ducked him? He said it was because he was black, but the real reason was that he didn't like Wills dirty tactics? Ok, then we have that sorted. Good.

What a joke of a thread.

Wills pulled some strokes, many fighters did , hitting on the break, backhanding,I wouldn't say he was known as a dirty fighter. I never heard of Dempsey complaining about being fouled, and he fought some dirty f*ckers,Morris ,Flynn etc.

For his last 12 fights, which includes every title fight he ever was in,Dempsey had 11 different referees. Got anymore white- slaving brothel stories for us?

Jimmy Dougherty was the ref in the Miske title defense and the Gibbons defense. To say he was lax on Dempsey's rabbit punches and low blows is to paint a very rosy picture.

Dempsey's role in his wife's occupation is another matter but one we can get into if you are interested. Unfortunately, we will only have the word of those present to go upon alas they are all dead.

So you are saying that every fight Dempsey had the ref was his roommate/friend yeah that makes sense.

In this pic Wills is holding the bag steady with his left hand and banging it with his right hand. And guess what this is exactly what he does in the Madden and Firpo fight. I ve never seen a guy hold the bag so that he could punch it. Look at the way Wills is grabbing the bag with his left hand, it's a grab, it's not a hook, or a jab, it's a grab pulling the bag into his right hand.

The final blow to a reeling, sick Miske was a huge shot to the back of his head. It was considered by many there a cruel foul to end a foregone conclusion. And this is part why we, myself included, love Dempsey. He was a hard @ss mfer.

Gibbons was beaten to a pulp below the belt and showed the bruises to several reporters in Shelbyville the following day.

Again, Dempsey didn't "play" boxing. It was kill or be killed for him. But let's not pretend he was a clean boxer.

You see, it helps to know what you're talking about unless your sole intention is to repeat the same lame @ss line over and over...
