60/40 and the fight will be made...simple as that....Canelo deserves no real concessions when he Gave away the belt without a whimper in the first place....F*ck Canelo I say he is a disgrace to Boxing in my Opinion....Take note before all the Losers get to excited this just My opinion....plenty out there Love Ginger and what he has done for Boxing....
15 million is hard to turn down, but Canelo is a big draw and this would be one of his biggest fights ever. It's not hard to imagine Golovkin could get a lot more from a percentage. And if he wouldn't make more, then why would Golden Boy object to paying Golovkin less? (ie, giving him a percent instead of a flat payment) I can see the argument being that Golovkin should just take a pay cut to increase his profile, but it seems this is less a priority to Golovkin. The disrespect (getting paid less) is more of an issue to him. And with Canelo's viewership on the decline, it does look like Golovkin holds the cards here and will get the fight how he wants it. Golovkin said No to a catchweight, now that appears to be done with, he can say No to a flat payment, and that will probably be done with too. And each time the deal gets better for Golovkin.
Please do not confuse B side with B level fighter. It's completely different. It is easy to determine who is the A side, usually they are the ones who initiate the offer. Have you ever heard golovkin team makes an offer to Canelo? 15m is a lot, although a percentage would be nice and fair, but this is business, there countless past negotiations from other fights reflecting this. If you haven't got a grasp of this you might haven't been following boxing for long.
Ha Ha...."Have not been following Boxing Long"....If only You knew.....In my day A Side B side (Level) was never heard of....It's something invented in the last 20 Years or so to fool Stupid Fan's and disguise Fighters lack of Courage...and quite frankly it's destroying Boxing as we know it.!!!!
I'm not gonna disagree with you that it hampers boxing where some fights not getting done. Put it this way, Canelo has more to lose on this fight.
It's a bit of a pain for me to say this cause I actually prefer watching ggg rather than Canelo. There are mainly 2 things a fighter care about in boxing. Money and legacy. When you are opening at 8-1 favourite against your next best foe, it is kind of put a stamp on how far you are in respect to your division. We know that ggg hang around in middleweight because of the Canelo payday. unifying division and breaking record defenses is just a pretty excuse. I would have a greater respect for ggg if he just said screw you to Canelo and move up for better challenges. He is better off to take the offer and get it over with rather than being jerk around, hurt himself in the legacy and pocket department.
Well, these things need context. 15Mil is huge, no doubt. Nothing will change that. But how much do you think that fight will generate? Because that's how you estimate how fair an offer 15Mil actually is. The fact they keep offering flat fees instead of percentages should tell you all you need to know about how much money GBP thinks this will make. But all the same, 15 Mil is a lot. I don't think it's as black or white as some of you guys are making this sound. Were I GGG, I'd take it. Were I K2, I'd reject it. Were I Canelo, I'd want GBP to offer a decent percentage so there's no doubt that I want the fight. Were I Oscar, I'd get the blow and fishnets ready for when my cash cow get's iced.
I was talking about canelo in my post saying he is the challenger but I wrote canelo at the eng instead of golovkin. It was late last night lol
That doesn't mean anything in negotiations, cotto was beaten by Canelo but he was still the A side. The A side as much as I hate all this talk is the person who brings more fans, money and ratings to the table.
