Are we talking age, or the span of fighting at the highest level?

I've found a similar case with Meldrick Taylor. While both guys were still good fighters post-Chavez/Trinidad, they weren't the same, and didn't last too long at the highest level afterwards.

Meldrick Taylor's best performance was 1988. After the Chavez fight in 1990, he was on the decline, although still good enough to move up in weight and beat Aaron Davis a year later. But he continued to decline, with a struggle versus Glenwood Brown a year later, and by Halloween 1992, he looked terrible in getting destroyed by Cristano Espana.

Vargas first won the title in 1998, and had his best performance in 2000 against Ike Quartey. He looked poor in his two-bouts post-Trinidad, although he did look better in his loss versus Oscar De La Hoya in 2002. His performances after De La Hoya, once again, went down.

And then there's Davey Moore. He was champ for roughly a year and a half, but never regained form after the terrible beating from Duran.

Morales's longevity wasn't too bad. He had a lot of tough fights, but was fighting at the highest level from around 1997 to 2005. Barrera had longevity. He started very young, and started fighting at a world class level in the mid 90s. He was still fighting on a world class level very recently.
