Martinez vs. Chavez Jr. - not literally, but you could smell KO/TKO.

Juan Marquez was rescued in the 7th by the bell. Only if Barrera could control himself.

Jess Willard was ktfo at the first round bell, like 6 people had to help him to his corner so he could continue. Jack Dempsey knocked him down like 10 times in the first round. the story goes that jack Dempsey made a huge bet that he would ko Jess Willard (who had a 6 inch height and 50 lb weight advantage) in the first round.

Close calls:

Ingemar Johansson 200½ lbs beat Brian London 207¼ lbs by PTS in round 12 of 12

• Location: Johanneshov Ice Stadium, Stockholm, Sweden
• Referee: Andrew Smyth
• Gate (app.) - $110,000
• Purses (app.) - Johansson - $50,000, London - $10,000
"The 12 round bout, billed as another step in Ingemar Johansson's march to a return shot at the heavyweight title, ended with Johansson staggering to his feet, his eyes glassy and his arms hanging at his side. Johansson, 200, apparently had the better of the dull fight until the final minute. He concentrated on his left jab to pile up points, and never landed his famous right hand. Brian London, 206, carried the fight but he could not land a solid punch until the final seconds when he stunned Johansson with a left and crashed him to the canvas with the right. The count had reached four and Johansson had just lurched to his feet when the bell rang. Referee Andrew Smythe of Ireland, the sole judge, awarded the fight to Johansson." -Associated Press

Although Johansson was the European heavyweight champion, this bout was non-title and scheduled for 12 rounds due to the EBU deeming London an unfit challenger for the European title.

Way back Jim Jeffries floored Gush Ruhlin at the end of 20 rounds. Ruhlin was out, but the final bell rang. The fight was ruled a draw, and the crowd wasn't happy.

Damn Bute took some punishment for sure, still dont know why people say he didnt have a chin.
Also, he went down with 3 or 4 secs to go, if he got up in 8 secs , fights over right there. And he did get up in 8 sec, so I dont know why people say ref saved Bute.

Anyway there was the rematch soon after that.

I remember reading about this fight in Ring Magazine in 1963, and envisioned Ingo being "saved by the bell" from the Ring description...but appears it was only a "close situation":

"Instead of fighting Liston, Johansson, however, fought journeyman heavyweight Brian London on 21 April 1963, in a non-title twelve-round match. Johansson won most of the rounds by boxing fairly well but not throwing a serious right hand punch throughout the entire fight. In round twelve, with four seconds remaining in the fight, London tagged Johansson with a powerful right hand that knocked him down flat on his back. Johansson arose at the count of four, just as the bell rang to end the fight. Film of this fight clearly illustrates Ingo was upright but groggy at the sound of the bell.

The next day, the front page of Stockholm's newspapers showed a photo of him dizzy, climbing the ropes, with the headline "Wake up Ingo – You won!" After seeing this, he sat down and wrote a letter to the European Boxing Union, resigning his title and retiring from boxing at the age of 30."
