has a heavyweight title bout ever been on a undercard of a lower weight class fight?

    Yeah
    Marciano Walcott II,
The bout that follow was Billy Oakland Smith vs Billy Nobel light heavyweights.

I am pretty sure that Holmes vs Leon Spinks was the fight before a Saoul Mambry fight.

    Was that a "walk-out" bout?

Rock-Walcott II was an early TV bout in the 50's.....maybe the producers were trying to plan for a quick KO by Marciano which did occur in one round.

Perhaps, I have Walcott Marciano II, PLUS the bout that follow. The annoucer even said 3 bouts to follow on the card during the intros of Marciano Walcott II.

It was the feature attraction, but not the main "EVENT".
