Yeah, I dont see Adamek ever becoming as popular as Golota. No offense to Adamek, but his looks and personality are pretty ordinary. Golota on the otherhand was a character and the public loves (or hates) characters, that's one reason Tyson was so huge. Ironically, one of the reasons Golota became so popular was the very trait that kept him from the top-his unpredictable, wacky behavior. Also, Golota had a certain look to him. He could have easily played an action hero or villain in the movies. I know looks shouldnt matter, but in terms of popularity it does.

Golota was never great. It would be hard to compare accomplishments since Adamek has fought in multiple divisions and Golota could only fight in one. Golota also fought in an era where it was virtually impossible for him to win a title do to the fact that the opposition was much better and deeper.

1996 version could have beatin' belt holders like Holyfield, Michael Moorer IF he could have mentally held it together.

I'm not sure I picture Golota (even if he was mentally stronger) ever beating Lewis though. Although he could have given him one hell of a good war. Look what he did to Bowe.

Prime for prime I can't see Adamek sending Bowe into retirement like Golota did.

Great post. Winning major belts at lhw and cw is a great accomplishment that boxing fans appreciated. Golota, though, had the whole world talking at different times by being a major factor (and at times a major **** up) in the HW didvision when the HW division was king (it's arguably always been the division that translatees to all fans not just boxing fans). I'd agree with you about Bowe too. Adamek's done great and is having a great career but doubt he'll reach AG's popularity (good and bad) and noteriety. Plus people are getting carried away with the win over Arreolla. CA might have been Ring #5 or whatever, but everyone must recall that his best wins are like Brian Minto (now a cw) and McCline who looked like he showed up for a paycheck.

Not in fouling prowess, but on accomplishments, he's light years ahead of Golota. Multiple time-weight champion, and a ,uch better resume.
