He was a good fighter to watch,and fought like a lion in the Gary Sykes fight-which i.m.o Morris should have won. In fact given Sykes recent crap performances,it ought to have been Sykes retiring from boxing.He seems way too bothered about updating his facebook,bleating on about Dewsbury recovering from the Shannon Matthews scandal and blonding up his hair and "adding another star tattoo" on his fights,load of old cobblers. If he's a boxer,box- if not get the f-- outta here and be the local star somewhere else!
As for the question, I'm not sure if he has retired. However, how the hell can you be moaning about Gary Sykes? He's one of the most exciting domestic fighters right now and has for three years running been involved in British FOTY candidates. Crap recent performances? He beat Johanneson and lost a close one to Buckland, both good fighters. How exactly is that a 'crap' run of form? :huh Maybe you should stop focusing on his Facebook updates so much and focus more on what he does in the ring.
Buckland was all over him like a rash--Sykes performance was not that impressive. He won 59-55 the other week against Dean Mills and it was a biased scored fight,the match took place in Hull half of Dewsbury there,and a little known fighter Dean Mills of Bridgewater.Who boxed out of his skin,but had no chance of winning due to the bias of the location/venue/following. As for Sykes facebook status-I don't view them so often but you get them on the ticker-feed and its always the same crap about having a new tattoo or re-blonding and spiking up my hair,that is when he isn't under the thumb of his coach/manager Chris.I've known boxing journalists who have to put all their questions via Daddy Chris as Sykes can't string two words together....must be all the bleach in the hair.
