Has Andy Ruiz Retired?

I think he has 2 more fights at best really.

Ruiz is a Mexican heavyweight. He can get fights and sell them. He had some injuries and just seemed disinterested in fighting although I think he's coming back.

 

Ruiz is an overarchiever: beating Joshua was the biggest HW upset since Tyson-Douglas and from a purely aesthetic point of view, it was the biggest boxing upset of all time, surreal. Nothing we've seen in Rocky compares.

If Ruiz had fought more good HW's, or good HW's who weren't 43+, he'd have been exposed far more than he was.

He should have taken the Joshua rematch seriously because it was winnable but he got so much money and status from those fights that he never had to box again. He also knew he was never going to reach those heights again, now a known quantity with less motivation.

That isn't true. It was a tier 1 heavyweight losing to a tier 2 heavyweight. Fury, Joshua, and Wilder were tier 1 at the time. Ortiz, Whyte (somehow), and Parker were tier 2, but Ruiz went tit for tat with Parker already so he was right there with them.

Even before he beat Joshua I followed Ruiz and was a fan. Skilled, very fast hands and mentally strong - alot of what I like in a fighter.

But his sheer laziness since beating Joshua has really put me off him. A real waste of good talent.

Ruiz is looking for a fight right now.

 

He'll fight Usyk, I'm sure of it.

Really throw him on an undercard and I'll watch him. But don't overpay him for a main event ppv vs some 45 year old. Also don't put him in with usyk he don't deserve it.

 

There was some buzz today that Fury called him out, though Kurt said he was not sure of the source.That would be a whole lotta man in that ring.
