We've heard of several instances of boxers dying from cranial hemorrhage. It's obvious that a boxer gets hit more in the head than the body during any typical bout. What I'm basically wondering is, can body punching be fatal?

Sorry if this thread seems super morbid

Closest I can think of is Ali urinating blood after a few bouts... I know it happened against Chuvalo. More then likely against Frazier and Foreman as well.

I remember one of our premiere posters, Duedenum, saying Willie Pastrano's life was more then likely shortened by a body shot?

Some of Jeffries oponents ended up in a prety bad way from body shots.

Jack Munroe was vomiting up blood in the ring.

the old days were nasty, only the tughest belonged in the ring, very, very rough. makes todays figghs sound like ballet or somthin. greb had to be caried from the ring due to a low blow, dunno if that counts, sorta a a body shot course he didnt die from it but he sure wasnt able to walk for a while.

I think Con Riordan died from a body shot, from memory, but he was intoxicated at the time.

If it did happen then Bob Fitzsimmons might be a candidate for having done it.

Gus Ruhlin had problems breathing for over a week after Fitz KOd him.

sorry man cant remember who it was against, there was an article listing some of the troubles greb had in the ring that i read. one guy carrying a snake in the ring, breaking his arm in a fight, his eyes due to thumbing etc. etc. but it was ages ago i read it. i tried to search for it but cant find it, good article as well. but im sure there are some others (who are much more knowledgeable than me on greb) on here that can tell you the name of the guy... or post the link to the article itself. if i remember correctly though i think he was kneed in the groin, it wasnt even a punch...nasty.

Jose Torre's shot to Pastrano's liver f*cked it up.....Pastrano said post fight interview that he saw nothing but "yellow spots" when the blow landed per Sports Illustrated the next week.

Most of Chavez' victims felt the pain. Taylor pissed a mighty amount of blood if rumors are to be believed.

Seems easier to make a guy **** blood then it'd seem. It's certainly not something you only hear about once in a blue moon.

I cant think of a boxer who died from a body blow but body punching is fatal if the guys has an ulcer, an absess or is just not ready for the punch. Boxers are incredibly strong but im certain more regular guys on the street have died that way than real fighters.

the legendary magician harry houdini died from a body blow having invited a youngster to test his stomach muscles, the kid let the punch go when he was still talking or something. totaly ruined his act..
