Had a great performance after being knocked out two fights in a row? Or even been knocked out twice in their career?
I believe Oleg Maskaev was KO'd in back-to-back fights (vs. Kirk Johnson & Lance Whitaker) as well as in some other fights, but pulled off a late career win over Rahman to win a title. RJJ was KO'd in back-to-back fights, but later beat Tito in a catchweight fight, for whatever that's worth. Gil Turner was KO'd twice in a 3-fight span, but rebounded to score his career-best win vs. Gene Fullmer a year later.
Kell Brook got KO'd twice in a row against GGG and Spence, then proceeded to win his next match by 2nd round KO.
In recent years, Wladimir had his long reign as HW champ after suffering 3 stoppage defeats. Tommy Hearns beat Virgil Hill 3 years after suffering his 3rd stoppage defeat (Leonard, Hagler, Barkley)
Earlier on most elite fighters were stopped more than twice and were more likely to be stopped in the beginning of their career. Now the best fighters aren't because the way careers are structured. Not because its impossible. Now fighters are most likely to be stopped when they are washed. You don't really see future champions taking developmental KOs anymore. You should be able to find a long list earlier on.
Wlad is the only guy I that I can think of that got tko twice in a year and half and went on to be dominant for decades
Danny Lopez was stopped twice in the span of three fights in 1974 (with a win in between) and lost three out of four in that same stretch. The stoppage losses were to Bobby Chacon and Shig Fukuyama. He came back to stop Ruben Olivares to change his trajectory and by 1976 was featherweight champ on the way to a long win streak of title matches (was it 10 defenses?) before running into Salvador Sanchez.
I was gonna say Cuevas, but after further inspection, he was only stopped once ahead of his loss to Hearns.
