Has any champion with nearly 40 fights ever had a resume as bad as Wilder?

You have to understand the culture in Alabama. That's a state that stops and starts for college football. And Wilder fills the void during the off-season. The entire state would turn up for his fights if there were enough seats. Those people are not boxing fans and would not know the difference between Luis Ortiz and Zumbano Love. So Wilder can take easy money until the WBC forces him in the ring with a top heavyweight. It's a distinct advantage that Wilder has over other American heavyweight titlists of the last decade or two.

    Tye Fields?

But I argue Fields resumé is better and Wilder will go the same way he did once he fights a full time boxer

No champion has fought 5 voluntary title fights against winos from the alley, now the WBC has made Stiverne #1 WBC, so Wilder will have another easy fight against a fat, over-the-hill bum....................Wilder will never fight anyone who can fight back. WBC will not rank Ortiz for a title fight, of course, because he would knock Wilder out, so would Joshua, Klitschko, Fury, both Hughie and Tyson, oh, and Parker..................some others also.............

Honestly i think they ve ran his career perfectly to this point. Wilder wasnt that good. He had knockout power but he had big flaws to his game. If they,d put him in with someone decent early they would have probably beat him.

But hes learned on the job. Hes a much more rounded fighter because of it. He actually has a chance to do something. We all know hes been fighting bums...but tbf molina. Dephaus. Stiverne. Arreola. Washington. His last 5 or 6 opponents are names or a step up anyway. Not the top guys but for someone everyone labelled a bum...their good wins. Hes boxing a bit more now. Its not a case of running across windmilling from the off. He now looks ready to step it up again. Next two years should see him take on the guys around the top of the division. Actually take my hat off to his team for not getting greedy and chucking him in too early.
