as i was watching the latest edition of 24/7 Pacquaio vs Marquez, i was wondering if there was any British or american fighters, not of mexican decent that have ever located to Mexico to train.

as we all know its an absolute hot-bed of talent, and has been since boxing began.

i can only imagine it must be difficult to learn another language and all, but surely somebody has done it?

Erik Morales can speak some English. In fact im sure plenty can, but choose not to, like puerto rican boxers. A lot of Mexican fighters can understand whats being said to them in English anyways, even if they cant speak it.

Really? I have never heard him speak English, except for perhaps a quiet 'thank you' in an interview after a fight.

Then again, I didn't know that Márquez spoke English at all until I stumbled upon some random video with an interview taking place a while before the Katsidis fight.

I don't know why a standard pro would relocate to México just to fight, although if they were 15 and wanted to turn pro at that age then I could understand that, even if it may be better to continue at amateur level.

I can't think of any English-first Americans or Brits who relocated to Mexico for their careers, but Tomoki Kameda has for the most part made his living in Mexico, which is double-odd considering the popularity of his brothers in Japan.

    Not to worry

Would it not be favourable for smaller fighters to have a stint over though,

Because pound for pound, no other country produces as many great "smaller weight" boxers as the Mexicans. Sure Nacho Beristien alone has trained numerous champions, a lot more than say Freddie Roach for example
