To drugs, booze, etc? I'm talking serious drug use and addiction. It seems to ruin and destroy the potential of fighters faster then anything else. Seeing Hatton inhale copious amounts of coke not too long after Calzaghe was busted doing it has me thinking. Serious drug addiction saw Johnny Tapia quickly sliding to the point where he was KO'd by a 24-13-2 fighter. Jeff Chandler's career ending supposedly was partly due to hard drug use towards the end of his career.
Pinklon Thomas was very well known for having overcome a heroine addiction long before ever claiming the WBC Title. (Hence my nickname for him, "Needles.")
Ahh, that's news to me. Didn't he get back on heroine at some point in his career, more or less effectively ending his stint as a world class fighter?
this is what effectively ended his time as a champion... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5RI3n9mUeU[/ame]
Everyone knows Pinklon Thomas was into coke before he won the title but the money brought him back I heard he went back before the Berbick fight and it seemed that way looked like another guy showed up for Berbick
Jason Booth, basically a very bad but talented alcoholic who turned hi life around and just lostt o Steve Moliter, fighting past his prime and after recovering from a serious addiction. He also IMO won against Moliter. An inspiration to all.
