Has any fighter completely unified in their third weight class in the 3/4 belt era?

Or would Loma beating the Commey-Lopez winner give him another first?

Off the top of my head, Bud, Usyk, Hopkins all unified completely, but in their first or second weight class.

I don’t know about that. When you look at what it really means. Loma is on course to be undisputed in a division that seems well above his natural weight.

Let’s be honest, the usual route to becoming a multi weight world champion is cherry picking weak belt holders as and when you move up beyond your natural weight.

Pacquiao won titles in 8 divisions, Loma has done it in three. Pacquiao has fought much harder competition also. Beating Linares, Pedraza and Campbell isnt exactly an ATG achievement.

And unified in a division where everyone they've fought is much bigger than them and done so on the road too?

Crawford unified in his 2nd division but he was a massive 135 pounder who was rehydrating as much as 18lbs after the weigh in, and he was also a massive 140 pounder too and he was rehydrating as much as 17lbs when he campaigned down there. And both Postol who he had 5lbs in weight on and Indongo (don't know the weights) travelled over to his country for those unification fights.

Many fans have questioned whether Crawford is big enough to beat the best at 147, but he actually weighed more down at 140 3 years ago than Horn did against him (Crawford's 147 debut) and Spence did against Ocampo and he bulked up after making his departure from 140 as well. Technically Crawford only actually made 135 six times in his first 25 fights and the struggle to make weight was one of the main themes of his HBO 2 Day special.

FTR, Loma was campaigning down at 108 when he was the same age Malnourished Manny turned pro a month after his 16th birthday whereas Loma turned pro four months shy of his 26th Birthday a fully grown man. Pushing 26 vs just turned 16 a month ago. So a few months under a decade's difference.

    He would be the first.

Until about the mid 2000s, the WBO wasn’t recognized by the big three, so attempting to unify all four would’ve resulted in stripping. Someone probably would’ve pulled it off already if not for that.

There have been 5 boxers who unified all 4 belts, right?
Crawford, Hopkins, Shields, Taylor and Braekhus.

So there have not been many who even got to try. So Loma doing it his 3rd weight class is a pretty irrelevant statistic.
Yes, we know that Loma is small for lightweight, but he isn't tiny.

Don’t see much point in unification if you beat the clear best fighter in that division, or moving up to beat someone better than who you would unify with.

For example, is beating Commey really a much better win than beating Josh Taylor or Prograis at 140 for Loma?

Or if you beat Davis at 130, would it be a better accomplishment to stay at 130 and beat the other “champions” there or try to beat Loma at 135?

Often the other champions just don’t bring enough money, with another promoter and just plain politics with mandated defenses, not worth it unless you’re in a stacked division where all the champions are stars.

Well, certain Pac fanboys like to wave around the “fact” that he’s an 8 division champion even though his 135 and 154 titles were fraudulent. So yes, meaningless stats are important, at least for fanboys.
