....become the universally recognised number 1 at that division like hopkins did after beating tarver?

is hopkins the only one to do it?

i know sugar ray robinson tried but heat exhaustion forced him to quit. (of course super middlweight division wasnt around then but it would have been 2 weight classes if todays divisions existed then)

Akiria Yaegashi jumped 2 weight classes last year to become lineal champion

Robinson's jump wasn't 2 weight classes because there was no Jr classes back then.

Michael Spinks. Mike was originally thought to have been a cherry-pick for Holmes to get to 49-0. He had no fights at heavyweight prior to upsetting Holmes, and he did it while being 20 pounds lighter than Larry, to boot.

No one thought Spinx was a cherry pick at the time. Most fans thought the highly skilled, younger and faster Spinx was forced on Larry to stop him from breaking Marciano's record.

Wasn't Mosley recognised as the top Welterweight after beating Oscar?
He went straight from lightweight jumped 140 straight to Welterweight.

Negative. Holmes-Spinks I was in fall of 1985; look at Tyson's comp around that time. It was just journeyman level, and Iron Mike was a year away from the Berbick fight.

That's not how King works. If Spinks was being built to be a dangerous threat to Holmes, they wouldn't have pulled him straight up from 175 with no adjustment fight at heavyweight.

Larry was also a 5-1 favorite in that fight.

It was a cherry pick gone wrong.

Evander Holyfield began his career as LHW and won Bronze at LHW in the Olympics.
Then went to Cruiser, to HW where he became undisputed HW champion.
