Ali lost to chinny Norton and tiny Frazier. The OP says tougher opponents and the 90s were tougher.

Sorry to rain on your romanticized memories of the solid but over rated 1970's but I disagree.

Old retreads from the 70's was beating up on the champions of the 1990's. Old ass 45 year old Larry Holmes knocked out the undefeated HW champ Ray Mercer. 45 year old George Foreman knocked out the champ Michael Moorer. The same man who beat a prime Evander Holyfield.

Ken Norton had skills, quickness and good size for that era. He was basically as big as Ali. Norton also had a tough style vs boxers who couldn't hurt him.

Bowe wasn't afraid of Lewis one bit, it was his dumb manager who avoided the fight initially. Later on, the Lewis camp avoided it. Rummy has made a video about it.
As for Bowe vs Foreman and Frazier, he beats Frazier every single time.
It's a coin toss against Foreman.

I dont argee I see bowe wins how does George when he had no defense and wasnt good at defending against combos he would be destroyed he was way to good at inside fighting

when George would get combos loaded on him he would be overwhelmed its mutiple matches showing this just they didnt have the power to hurt him bad ron did and even though it was a old George martin did to George would flail his arms cause he couldnt react good

George hits hard, so he always hard a puncher's chance. If Bowe makes the mistake of trading with him, he might loose. This was what I meant.

I'm a fan of Evander but in reply to that statement.... he lost twice to Bowe, was gifted a draw v Lennox and was beaten by Lennox in the rematch.

Compared to beating Liston x2, beating Frazier x2, Norton x 2 and stopping Foreman..............

Overrated 70's, first I've ever heard of the 70's being overrated . I mean an old guy from the seventies came back and won the title over 20 years later in the 90's . From 71 to 83 you had Ali, Foreman, Frazier and Holmes. All solidly ranked in the top 10 of all time. Might want to rethink that overrated thingy.

Joe Frazier is a consensus top 10 heavyweight of all time. Norton had a win over the man who is the universally recognized as the greatest heavyweight of all time. If the 90's were tougher how did a man from the 70's come back and win the heavyweight title 20 years later against a guy who beat Evander Holyfield? Tougher, yeah right.

Because Moorer was the worst lineal champion of the 90s short of Briggs and Foreman, and Foreman won with a good shot while hopelessly down on the cards before allowing himself to be stripped of his titles by refusing fights.
