Don't think there's anyone worse, Pavlik is on a trailer by his self in this one with three supporters considering it the greatest title defenses in history.

Ottke won the IBF title against Brewer in only his thirteenth fight and his first two defences were fairly soft. But the third was against Thomas Tate, which fairly rules him out of contention.

To describe Pavlik's reign as middle champ as disapointing is the understatement of the year.So much hype with nothing to show for it.

It is poor quality for such a touted champion, not made much better with his next defence against LMW Martinez. But I do like Pavlik and enjoy watching him, I remember really looking forward to his fight with Miranda and it didnt disappoint, he was sensational. But they are poor defences, and people say guys like Ottke and Calzaghe hid away in Europe. Then theres people who criticise Froch who beat undefeated Pascal for his vacant title and defended away to Taylor, his undefeated mandatory Dirrell and is defending away again to Kessler.

Ok, so who would you have him fight? Sturm? The Germans aren't coming over here, and why should KP go deal with all the disadvantages of fighting in Sturm's back yard.

The MW division is probably the weakest in boxing. Not Kelly's fault. Martinez out-classed Williams in his last fight (at 160 lbs), and the only people who didn't have him beating Cintron were 2 awful judges and the referee.

He's picking up the leftovers of the bloke he ducked twice.

    A fearless warrior, undoubtedly.

Didn't realize you weren't allowed to defend your favorite fighters on here.

Martinez landed 40% of his shots vs Williams. He fought him on 10 days notice. 10 days!!!

Many felt he won the Williams fight. Regardless, it was close. Paul Williams is ranked #2 by The Ring.

So do you rank this as a worthy defence against LMW Martinez? (That wasnt sarcasm, just a question)

Hard one to call. Rankings stink sometimes, but you will find no shortage of people on this site confident that Martinez will 'outslick' Pavlik in this one and take his titles.

Williams at #2 at MW in the ring rankings? Dubious at best after his last fight.

Kelly was pretty much disowned by HBO for not postponing the Hopkins fight because of his physical condition. I can't blame them. His team even turned in his anit-biotic shots under the name of his sparring partner to hide his condition. This fight is about taking a fight HBO wants. This will be his first fight on HBO since Hopkins.

Pavlik im sure will win by KO. I remember Martinez years ago getting put down and hurt by Richard Williams before getting up to win & Pavlik hits alot harder. Also with Martinez only being a LMW, id take a confident bet on Pavlik by KO

Point being, right now if Kelly wants to get back on board with HBO he fights who they want him to fight. Williams was their first choice. Williams folks know better after the Martinez fight. Martinez was HBO's second choice. Not a lot of thought process here. HBO wouldn't pony up a realistic amount for a unification with Sturm when that was possible.
