Has any other long-reigning HW-champ looked as unbeatable as post steward Wladimir?

I remember back in 2004 Farmboxer used the "vasoline" excuse as to why Brewster KO'd Wladimir.

So naturally it's difficult to take him seriously.

Wlad was poisoned in the first fight.

In the rematch, Wlad dominated every second of every round and made Brewster quit TKO 6

I can think of guys who looked as unbeatable, but not more unbeatable. I can't recall any other era when contenders were all too scared to take on the champ. Even when we have had dominant champs in the past, and the contenders looked like they had little chance, the contenders still had belief or balls enough to get in the ring.

That's because he's the only good boxer along with his brother out there.

Seriously the HW division is a joke.

Shhh! It is that we never speak of.

There was poison involved, suspicious vaseline, dubious characters. Don King. The candies in the dressing room had too much sugar! bassettt why did they have so much sugar?

How come the lights were shining brighter in Wlad's corner than they they were in Brewster's corner? The corrupt judges and ref were in King's pocket.

If the fight continued Wlad would have stopped him in the 8th round. And Vitaly would have woken up bummy Brewster up just to knock him out in the 9th round. K2 KO!!!!

Wlad hasn't fought many fighters that have been a threat all his career i mean Jean Marc mormeck for **** sake what a waste of time that was he got knocked out at CW by o'neil bell and David haye years prior he just a big bully a ****ing ***** at that he fights like a girl Derek chisora would be a nightmare for him the look of audley Harrison like fear on his face would be priceless

Well, I think Tyson probably looked more unbeatable than Wlad does now, purely because Wlad lost before. The difference is Tyson reached the best he would get pretty early in his career, then spent much of his prime underachieving.

But yea, I'll say Tyson. Perhaps Louis was too, I don't know

Would he have beaten his brother at all times in the past 5 or 6 years?

Most other champs have never been able to avoid someone else clearly second best around for so long.

Especially when they are the best 2, with daylight to the rest.

It's a fair question to ask, but personally I feel prime Vitali would have stopped Wlad while old Vitali gets outboxed. Given Vitali's 4 years out there hasn't been a time when a fight between the top would be a pick 'em for me. I'd always choose early 00s Vitali and late 00s Wlad

Tyson looked unbeatable, but for a very short time. Wlad along with Joe Louis and Larry Holmes are the longest reigning most uneatable looking guys over time.

Louis is ranked #1 or #2 all time.
Holmes is ranked #3 all time.

Most of you are too young, but in his day Holmes was considered to have cleaned out the division and fought bums, so was Joe louis and now so is Wlad. See the similarity?

Wlad can move up to a top 5 ranking all time if he stays active 3-4 more years.

It's a double edged sword; while it was historically unprecedented and exciting to have 2 brothers as Heavyweight Champions at the same time the novelty wears thin when the #1 fighter will never fight the #2 fighter ever.

Incidentally they have adversely affected their own legacies.

Vitaly never unified a single belt and at no point in his career can he claim to be undisputed.

Wladimir at not point in his career can ever call himself undisputed which is a pity.

I think you underestimate how much stock some put in wins against ATGs. It probably wouldn't take long to find classic posters who rank Rahman, Douglas and McCall above Wlad because of their ATG win. Even the most hardcore class posters will have to put him in their top 100 one of these days though
