Barbara Buttrick, of England, former Flyweight and Bantamweight Champion, could make it. She will be 93 on December 3rd, 2022, and is in good health, the last I heard. She is in The International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame.
Billy Fox did not make it to 96. In fact hed be 96 if he were still alive. He was punch drunk 40 years ago. I doubt he made it much past the 1980s.
I suspect there’ll be a few more centurions in the following decades due to the elite guys fighting much less often these days. I mean look at big Joe Joyce , he’s on the verge of a World title shot and the lad has hardly broken sweat…metaphorically speaking…in his pro career so far. 19 fights at the age of 37…the guy will probably live for many, many more decades!
I'm very confused. Isn't Billy Fox still alive? I can find nothing that he has died. Edit - I see the chances are that perhaps he died as a John Doe as a homeless person or at an insane asylum.
Historically your chances of living to 95 were less than your chances of winning a world boxing championship now. Cavemen didn't live to 95
How about Curtis "Hatchetman" Sheppard? I haven't been able to find anything about him passing. If still alive, he would be around 103.
