They are all meaningless anyways, only invented to get sanctioning fees from the fighters, and improve purses for fighters by billing them as "World Champions". Credit to guys who unify, but more often than not there are more legitimate challengers who don't have a belt so IMO it really doesn't matter. A good example of why all those belts are bad is David Haye, now that he has his bull**** belt he can aviod becoming a mandatory for WBO, IBF and WBC and thus continue his ducking of the Klitschkos.
Also, DM should have had them all at 175lbs. After beating Hill he should have been IBF, WBA and WBO champion. But WBA stripped him immediately due to his WBO affilation, and IBF gave him 30 days to defend their belt. It's also well known that Graciano Rocchigiani should have been the WBC champion, and a court established that he should have been champion until his defeat to DM. However all those belts when right into RJJ's pocket. Like another poster said though, getting all four is just luck, any one of the organisations can strip you for no reason or make unreasonable demands.
Since the WBO is the youngest of the three belts ,its something thats hard to nowadays and at one time the WBO was a joke of a belt who once had a super middle weight fighter ranked #6 ...and the person was DEAD for over 7 months I believe.
Didn't Tszyu become the Undisputed Jr. Welterweight Champ, unifying all four? Or am I missing something...
Careful with your wording. Someone will be on here soon accusing Hopkins of juicing. A week later, it will become fact.
errrrmmmmmmm Roy Jones has the record of holding most belts at once..!!! Something like 7 belts at once, at Light Heavyweight.
There is no point in having all four because it would result in higher sanctioning fees which means less money for the fighters. If I was a pro fighter I would just fight for the WBC belt and fight the other belt holders but never ask them to their titles on the line.
you can hold them all but then be striped of one of them from the sanctioning bodies for no reason? I have to say I do respect mayweathers attitude when he refused to pay sanctioning fees when he fought mosley who holds the wba. the sanctioning bodies are greedy and corrupt, its the athlete who puts his health on the line **** these greedy *******s!
