Has anyone been to the evening with Froch and Groves?

Throwback time, I went to a charity evening with Carl Froch about 13 years ago and he was entertaining. It was in Nottingham and he argued with nearly everyone there, his fellow Forest fans, gave the MC guy pelters for having a dig at Polish people. This was a bit before he won his first world title. It showed me he was principled as stuck up for his beliefs, even though it never made him popular with his own fans. Always remember him saying Kessler went into the Calzaghe fight with a broken hand.

 

Exactly. I couldn’t think of anything worse. I find it crazy that Groves can stomach it over and over again. Even if he’d won one of the fights I’d have thought he’d struggle. It just shows you money talks because I think you can still tell when they’re on together that Groves still thinks Froch is a bit of a helmet. Just shows you how mature and content Groves is these days to not be arsed about them results and stomach him. Imagine Groves had won would the lumberjack be touring with Groves?

 

Remember when groves challenged him to a 3rd fight...that was cringe

For years, John Conteh was the King of these functions. Warm, engaging and hilariously funny. Professional comics feared following him.
I saw Froch a few years back and once he gets warmed up, he's pretty good. He has an interesting story and tells it well with a fair bit of dry humour.
The worst I've seen was a half cut and dreadfully bitter Ken Buchanan.

I'm surprised Groves is able to do it. Especially since he really should have won both fights if he had more ring intelligence and perspective that he probably has now.

 

You should read Carl's story before you make that judgement. A clever lad who had to chuck drunken miners out of his Mum's pub at 14. George wouldn't stand a chance on the car park.
I'm glad they've found a way to get on.

 

Groves was a kickboxer so could probably look after himself in a fight outside of the ring.I to am glad that they now have buried the hatchet,their rivalry was the best since Eubank/Benn.

I would've loved to have seen Eubank v Froch,two granite chinned warriors beating the crap out of each other!

 

Don’t forget knocking out Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley.
