Has anyone come up with a plausible reason why they think Canelo can beat Floyd??

I'm yet to read anything slightly logical.....

Outside of, Canelo is younger & heavier.... That's it.

Canelo can't outbox Floyd, he can't outwork him, he can't outlast him & he can't knock him out either...

Yeah, he might be able to hold the centre of the ring & fire out a jab, but it's gonna take more than that to beat Floyd.

So serious question, tactically, how does Canelo beat Floyd?

Skill wise has hasn't a prayer but heavier can be enough. It depends on much much heavier. Not a great way to win a fight but if Floyd agreed to fight with no rehydration clause then Canelo is doing no wrong in going up so much. We are going to see a very smart ( and boring ) fight from Floyd

    I totally agree.

And then people will complain by calling it boring, totally forgetting the fact that Canelo outweighs him by 20+lbs

Not saying he will, but he has a really quick release when punching and very fluid combinations (every punch is lethal). He also has great body work and Floyd likes resting on the ropes at times, regardless if he lands cleanly on Floyd's body it will still take an effect on Floyd. If Mosley was able to land on Floyd a couple of years ago against a younger Floyd so can Canelo. Canelo has underrated head movement and is good at parrying and countering, not as good as Mayweather but he doesn't have to be. He also has good footwork to stay in position to attack Floyd. I can't come up with a plan to beat Floyd but I can mention some skills that can give Canelo a chance.

In boxing, one punch can win a fight. Unfortunately for Canelo, I don't think he will be able to land that fight winning punch. Mayweather by UD.

Beyond the obvious of landing the one big shot that stops Floyd, Canelo doesn't have much going for him with the style matchup unless he has just developed a ridiculous amount between the Trout fight and tonight at cutting off the ring, using his jab, not gassing out so quickly, better workrate, etc. Such an improvement that fast is unlikely in the first place, but even more so given that Alvarez had to put a lot of his focus on making the catchweight.

    wrong

he can knock him out, all it takes is one perfectly placed shot, highly unlikely that Canelo lands one though

You will see Floyd cutting body shots tonight ,something no opponents have done against Canelo ,he may be able to take one on the chin but what about the solar plexus. Look at all Canelo last 5 fights ,Floyd may stop him due to body blows ,I think Canelo cut too much weight this fight and won't be as strong.

Because you never say never in boxing.
Anything can happen, and sometimes the puncher stops the boxer.

I pick Floyd by impressive UD, but I wouldn't lose my **** if he got stopped.

Utterly ******ed. He has a very good chance of a knock out. Also you're saying he cannot out box him but if his power is affecting Mayweather this could allow him to dictate matters and out box him a lot better.

Mosley had Mayweather all over the place, this was a ew years ago as well but apparently Canelo cannot get a knockout. Cotto pushed Mayweather all the way as well but apparently Canelo cannot, even though Canelo is just a bigger and better all round version of that Miguel Cotto.

Anything can happen on the night, the thread starter is just a *****.

    Mosley did what?
    Cotto did what?
    Dude take the blinders off.
Mosley landed 2 good punches and got taken to school for the rest of the fight.
Cotto did ok for maybe 4 rounds, and you are crazy if you think Alvarez is better than Cotto?

If Canelo could not stop Ricky Hatton's brother and Miguel Cotto's brother he cannot stop Floyd Mayweather. Floyd is going to touch up Canelo all night then put his lights out.
