Clearly he is better though if he does accomplish such a herculean feat. Armstrong did it against much less modern fighters.

Clearly, yes. Imagine how much he'll surpass Armstrong if he loses another pound to fight for the IBO's junior superbridgeweight belt.

Harry Greb is number one at MW and number three at LHW for me.

Robinson is the only guy with an arguemnt for top 1 in two weigh classes now though.

Interesting how little impact Sam Langford makes upon divisional rankings despite the fact that he's arguably the number one pound-for-pound.

    Original weightclasses:
If we go by accomplishments in the weight class then Sugar Ray Robinson (WW & MW) and Harry Greb (MW & LHW) have the best shout. H2H I can see arguments for Sam Langford and Henry Armstrong.

Better yet- what if he fights at Super CW for the super WBC only to make the 3lbs drop to retake his original CW title at a catch weight of 202lbs.

One thing's for sure: Armstrong never could have conceived of the depth of competition in modern boxing. I think we can both agree on that.

He would not be ranked today and it should go without saying

I can't imagine a modern boxing commission would license him, frankly.

Chavez really struggled v Taylor at 140, I don`t think he was an elite figter at light welter.

Hearns at welter and 154, he beat Benitez at 154 in one of the greatest scientific match-up`s of all-time and looked unbeatable while destroying Duran.

You could probably go with SRR at:
    1. welterweight - where he is undisputed no. 1
    and
    2. middleweight - where most rank him top 5, many top 3 and some as no. 1

Greb could well be the GOAT at MW and 168
