Has anyone ever done more long-term damage to boxing than Wladimir Klitschko?

I find it a very sad day to know Germany is the holder of Heavyweight action. That right there is very disappointing, however racist it might seem. It's like invasion of the bodysnatchers over there.

But you simply can't deny the fact that without the Klitschko's, Haye would be the only thing there, and to be honest he'd be an ATG british fighter in our patriotical eyes, so take the good with the bad, I guess.

As an ex amatuer fighter and a brit, i am embarrased but some of the brits that post on here, what are you talking about?, what you should be saying even if you are not a fan, is that Manny Steward has done a great job with him, just the way he has learnt to control the fight from the centre of the ring is very impressive. But a casual fan does not see that, the casual fan does not see that his win over Ruslan Chagaev was more impressive that anything David Haye has done at heavyweight, this guy has taken on all the major contenders, it looks like he is now going to fight Adamdek, please do not forget Haye cancelled this first fight, Haye cancelled negotations this time as well, Valdimir agreed to next possible PPV Haye on 2nd July, he decides he needs to fight before then as that would be 10 months, so why does it matter to Haye if Vlad takes a risk and fights in April.....it is because Haye would have to take a mandatory, which would not be on ppv, so it is high risk with little reward...and that sums up David Haye!

The Heavyweight division is still trying to recover from Don King and his gaggle of lame heavyweights at the turn of the century. John Ruiz and Chris Byrd were awful champs.

Haha. Another alt account pretending to be British. Hilarious.

I wonder what Manny Steward thinks about all this. Hes a boxing man albeit for hire. I wonder if he's as embarrassed as most boxing people are for Waldo.

You're an idiot for posting this. Wlad ducked Haye by taking the Chisora fight. If you really want to know why, read the hundreds of posts in the multiple threads (including this one) that clearly explain that point.

Wlad is a coward and he has run from Haye like a complete *****.

What is Wlad's legacy? Being brutally TKO'd by 3 poor fighters, winning 2 belts in one of the weakest divisions in history and then refusing to fight all the other belt holders in the division. Instead fighting every overmatched bum he could find. Then CLEARLY ducking the best opponent he would ever have faced after the fight was agreed. History will not be kind to COWARD Wlad.

Vitali is not Wlad. Don't lump them together. Admittedly they're both disgusting negotiators but the problem with Wlad is that he is also a massive ***** inside the ring. It's Wlad's fighting style AND match-making that has seen the HW division become the laughing stock of the boxing world. Clearly, boxing would be much better off if we only had the good Klitschko and Wlad never existed.

How can you possibly say Manny Steward has done a great job with him? How are you guaging that? Who has Wlad fought and what performance has he given that was even remotely impressive since he was savagely exposed for the 3rd time by a **** poos Lamon Brewster? The 36 year old, massively overrated and tiny for a HW Chris Byrd? Surely not, as he's 6-7 inches smaller and has a 45% KO rate. Do you really mean Chagaev?!?!? The guy who fought Wlad on 2 weeks notice and who's only other notable wins as a pro boxer are an SD and MD against Ruiz and Valuev. The guy who never comes in shape, has no power or speed and was giving up 5-6 inches in height.

I love Manny but Wlad has fought much worse fighters since he was violently TKO'd for the 3rd time and he has done it in much LESS impressive fashion. That is why he banned from HBO.

Here is the stone cold fact.... Ever since Sanders destroyed him in 2 rounds Wlad has avoided fighters with speed and power like the plague. Even in doing that Wlad was still masacred by a poor fighter in Lamon Brewster.

Ruiz and Bird were awful, but the only difference between Ruiz and Wlad is 3-4 inches in height. They have the EXACT same fighting style. Clinch, grab, hold, grab...... zzzzzzzzz. To be fair, Wlad has much more power but he refuses to use it and Ruiz has an infintely better chin. It's also clear that Ruiz has infinitely more heart. I cannot imagine how dominant John Ruiz would have been in this division if he was also 6'7. That's how unspectacular Wlad is.

I would argue that the Ibragimov fight was one of the low-points of Manny's career. Nothing could be worse for a trainer than to have your guy look completely ineffective in a ridiculous mismatch. It clearly still pisses Manny off as he's ranting at Wlad about it between rounds.

Now add in the shameless duck of Haye and you have a very embarressing spectacle indeed.

Wlads legacy is dominating the division for much of the decade, running up defenses against Ring ranked opponents, watching Povetkin wimp out twice and Haye wimp out twice....putting on clinics at times against supposedly tough challengers and unifying the IBF and WBO title...

Hmm, I'm a regular reader but not a poster, am a Klitschko fan, and am not into the insults that can go back & forth, etc. But all this bad mouthing Klitschko who last lost, a very, very long time ago. If this article is correct, was not Klitscko obligated to face Chisora?
    From here: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/more-...tschko-will-happen-get-it-on-115875-22834082/

So according to this, Klitshcko had to face him. So the way that this worked, since he had to face Chisora, and Haye did not want to fight in April, because Khan is more popular than him, even with an unnamed opponent, he took the Chisora fight that he was obligated to do so!!

And his signature, was on for the July 2nd date with Haye. It was Haye, who could take his mandatory in March, and then fight Klitshcko. If he really wanted to. So is this article wrong? If this article is not wrong, all this ganging up on Klitschko is wrong.

He didnt have to face him, or that would have been mentioned in negotiations with Haye.

He would not have offered Haye APRIL 30 or July 2nd if he HAD to fight Chisora.

This is just excuses now coming out of the Wlad camp to try and cover his ***** out to the less knowledgable out there who will read articles like that and not know any better.

I'm not going to waste my time too much on this type of thread, but I personally think Wlad is fine. While I don't think he has the skills of Lewis, I have no problem labeling him his heir apparent. Wlad has great boxing skills, is always in shape and brings his best to the table every fight. No one can expect him to chance his style because it would merely increase the chances of him getting KO'd. All fighters have to work with what they have. I'm sure Tyson would have liked to be 2-3 inches taller and maybe 10-20lbs heavier, Frazier would probably have liked to be bigger, Ali probably would have wished he had more power, and Foreman probably would have wished for better endurance, or at least ring smarts on a couple of occassions, but like I said, it is what it is.

The biggest problem in the division is that there's no serious opponents for the K brothers. Haye certainly isn't it to me as he has almost no experience as a heavyweight, so him not fighting one of the K brothers, doesn't bother me from an outcome standpoint, as I doubt he'd win, but that said, it would probably be entertaining for as long as it lasted.

Less belts and more meaningful fights are what boxing needs.

Bob Arum or alternatively, the 234 boxing bodies that have made titles trivial and the best fighting the best increasingly harder to put together that is why ufc is emerging recently and MMA in general, The big fights get made and im not even a big fan of it

He had a back injury and according to Warren, he had to fight him. Is that not correct? Hayes would know that. That was a british newspaper reporting that. Here's another reporting on Warren telling Sky Sports News
    http://hayevsklitschko.com/warren-says-chisora-will-be-fighting-klitschko-next-year/
Here is a quote from Chisora's promoter:

180 days from the postponement is June. They are fighting in April. He takes care of two birds with one stone. He gets a warm up fight, gets that out of the way, then fights Haye. And he doesn't violate the agreement, at least the way Warren sees it. Haye can take his mandatory in the meantime in March or so. Absolutely nothing stopping Haye from taking his mandatory ahead of time before Klitshcko fights, unless Haye is worried about losing his mandatory fight.

Hmm, if he KO'd Haye in April, why couldn't he fight Chisora in June. Since Haye didn't want to fight until July, he takes the earlier fight. Both times within the 6 months. Haye can't mandate that Vladmir stays inactive for 10 months.

Wlad really messed up his legacy, by ruining the biggest fight of his career.
