I didn't even see the punch in regular speed Sexton steps in and is then on the canvas Replays showed a perfectly timed counter by Hughie, lightning quick.
I honestly did think it was a fairly impressive and quick shot. That said, Sexton sucks so it really doesn't mean much.
Hatton was a world champion and did the same thing against Floyd. A lot of elite boxers and pugilists (Aldo v McConor) get caught coming in like that. Give credit where it’s due. If Joshua did that you’d be rubbing yourself off.
How can you not see the irony behind my name? Jesus christ man..... Signing up to a forum, to engage in boxing discussions, isn't something a 'casual' fan of the sport would do. It's also amusing the logic to insult the 'casual fan'....It's these 'casual fans', who buy a mayweather/Joshua/Canelo fight which ensure the big fights get made.
It was a good sneaky counter he walked Sexton into. It wasn't really that fast though because the punch really didn't travel that far as Sexton was caught so close to Fury. It was just a really well timed and placed shot and was disguised well. Fury needs to do more of this. He never countered enough before, he preferred to get off first and then just run before, now he's holding his feet and countering more.
I missed the fight because I fell asleep. However, I just watched it a bit ago and the finishing right hand was a nice shot. I thought Hughie stood a good chance of getting Sexton out of there, although I expected it to come a few rounds later. The reason Hughie and Tyson stand out is because, unlike the vast majority of the top HWs in the world at the moment, most of whom are just huge guys who took up the sport late after transitioning from other sports, they actually have skills and know how to fight. AJ has decent skills but it's primarily his size and combination of power and speed that makes him formidable. If he didn't have those quick hands of his he'd be so much easier to beat. I would describe him as an athletic version of Herman Munster with a decent skill level for a late starter. And he's the best of the bunch (the late starters that is).
Hughie needs to get another belt. I would set up the Joe Joyce showdown, so one of them will have the commonwealth belt and british belt. that would be a great fight! Winner of that fight gets Dillian Whyte
