It seems like these days there are no Body Punchers in the H/W division, given the Klits are so focused on protecting their heads, and they have a lot of Torso to choose from i'd like to see someone target those bodies

There we have it, ESB! Earl-Hickey has finally come up with the strategy to end the Klitschko's reign. I'm just befuddled that so many well-respected professional trainers with bucket loads of experience didn't think of it sooner. Target the big man's body. Genius.

End of the day it's hard enough to even get to the body, once your there they spoil and ref's break it up very quickly. Many look for that bingo punch for a reason.

It's simply not that easy to do..

  4. You've more chance of landing straight shots to the body than you have to the head.

Problem is, they're always in such good nick that you'd have to really land lots of shots to have any effect.

Shame really because neither of them can throw an uppercut for toffee, so you aren't going to be nailed with a biggie if you can't get out quick enough.

Didn't Brewster give it a go against Wlad a few years ago?

Brock actually went for Wlads body pretty heavily, if you look at the later rounds you see Wlads side completely red.
Lewis also hammered Vitali to the body as well.

That being said both did not seem to have much effect outside of redness.
Brewster to some extent got some body work in the first fight and i guess if you want to attribute Wlad imploding to that you could do that.
Personally i think ill go with what the doctors said and his insuline levels were through the roof.

Someone like Haye had the abilty but if your too afraid of being knocked out then its game over.

As dominant as the brothers have been, there selection of opponents has been questionable...Sosnowski, Briggs, Mormeck are hardly top of the class contenders each were struggling wit fighters outside the top 10.

The best fighters from 2008 to now that have faced the Klitshckos have been S. Ibragimov, D. Haye, R. Chagaev, E. Chambers and Adamek.

When you think about it, the likes of Ibragimov and Haye fought tenatavily and Chambers, Chagave and Adamek were too small, not powerful enough punchers.

If the brothers stay around, then there are a new breed if bigger fighters who could cuase them problems...Pulev, Helenius, Fury, Price, Abudsalmov, Wach.

Most fear their power and are afraid to come close to them, others that try get the octopus threatment (as some here call it) and end up but being more powerdrained themselves as their puncheffect had.

You need an in/out, bob/weave kinda boxer to be effective against them and those aren't around anymore.

Most heavyweights today wouldn't be good enough to make use of bodywork even if they tried.

Frazier would've done it properly :deal

Brock hit the body more than any other opponent I've seen. Matter of fact I thought Brock had a decent strategy.

If your gonna Box with the Wlad, but cant exist on the outside from long range, then the best thing might be to do what Brock did, which was step up to the pocket, but dont wait for counter punching opportunity's( Byrd), rather get off first with your own jab. The danger when stepping up to the pocket however, is that Wlad isn't scared to bang with the right hand in every now and then when you get too brave, so you obviously need to use your feints, head-movement, and jab when fighting in that range. What you dont wanna do in that situation is let the tempo drop and start waiting too long, cause then you will surely get nailed with a big right hand sooner rather than later.

  11. Agreed.

Wlad's short right hand isn't that great IMO, much like (say) Tszyu he needs to get the full extension to generate sufficient power.

The problem is that by staying close and stepping to the left you are inviting him to throw his left hook.

If that lands on the button it's good night, god bless.

Yeah that's part why I say you cant allow the tempo to drop, and why you need to keep him turning by moving around him, trying to reset him.

Wladimir is like Kessler in terms of..........he can be disorganized if he cant calculate what your doing. As Haye said, he starts to malfunction.

One has glass skin, the other, a glass chin, so whats the point in going for their bodies? They're both in solid shape and spoil up close anyway so body punching Klitschkos isn't a good strategy.

The key to body punching Wlad is not to try and hurt him, its to close the distance, to get your feet into position to set up another punch, or to disguise another punch.
