Has anyone got an estimate for the total number of professional boxers?

    i.e how many boxers live from boxing as their sole occupation and not claiming from some state benefit system?

    I would like an estimate global please.

    WOw thats IRonic my son was just asking me that question today. I guess you could go to boxing records and find out by going to each weight division (were they give you the amount of fighters active within the last year) add them up.

    My guess is probably around 10,000.

    I'll give you an example, we have Rendall Munroe fighting for the WBC Super Bantamweight title later this year and he is a bin-man!

    In all seriousness,I don't think there's too many people who can live solely off boxing unless they're using small time fights to get out of the cheap housing area they must be living in. I'm sure there's more people that work small time jobs and box small time for extra cash. my serious guess is probably 25000ish that are making anything liveable.
