brickfists has had 56 fights since he was last on here.
23 were on the same day and only one went the distance.
:lol:i was delighted to be in his corner where i wiped all the blood of his gloves and 82 teeth

when they first told me i was nervous as hell, especially with me drinking on thursday kept thinking what if im not fit enough what if the drinking has put me back 2 weeks etc. Took me about an hour and then been ok since.

Did some sparring last night with a guy a stone heavier than me and more expereince and felt good and held my own, so now im brimming with confidence. its weird though only having 3 day notice but thats amateurs!

Had a muay thai exhibition bout against my training partner last sunday for Thai New Year.
We were fighting outdoors on some carpets and jigsaw matts thrown directly on sloped, pock-marked ground.

I say "exhibition" but it was harder than the last smoker bout I went to.
Had a hard time getting anything off, my footwork was garbage.

    Landed like one decent combo.

Twisted both of my ankles, one real bad, but didn't feel it till the next day.

Caught a flying knee to the ribs from the same guy who drops everyone with knees to the ribs (including me the first time we sparred).
It knocked the wind out of me, but I kept going, finished out that round, and one more round till they called time.

Apparently my nose was bleeding too.

Taking the rest of the week off to heal up, second set of bruised ribs I've had this year from the same guy.
    Just feel old.

Somewhat conflicted though, on one hand I feel like I need to spar hard every workout, on the other, the injuries & inability to train are reminding me why I'm not a huge fan of banging hard all the time.

I'm getting too old for this stuff.
July's my big event and then I'm done for a while.

EDIT: Woke up this morning with difficulty breathing. Went into the ER and got some X-Rays. It's official, my rib's busted. Hooray for Vicodin and local anasthetics.
